Tracy Walker studied both fine art and illustration, and graduated from the Sheridan College Illustration Program.
For several years she worked as a designer in the book publishing industry before making the leap to a full time career in illustration. With this experience, Tracy gained a valuable perspective in meeting the needs and expectations of her clients.
More recently, Tracy traded in the hectic pace of the city for life in a more rural setting. As a means of connecting with her new environment, she built a garden. The result was a transformation in her approach to painting-- her work has literally blossomed.
Tracy was drawn to the geometry, design and chaos in the natural forms around her. These shapes echo in the vocabulary of icons and images that Tracy draws upon to communicate her ideas.
Inspiration is also never far away when Tracy returns from her travels. The muralists of Mexico City, ceramic tiles from Istanbul, and the tide pools of Haida Gwaii, British Columbia-- they all combine in her vision for the page.
Tracy's work has been recognized by American Illustration, 3x3 magazine, Applied Arts Magazine, and the Illustrator's Club of Washington, D.C.
Tracy Walker's illustrations appear in newspapers and magazines worldwide, as well as in advertising, package design and several books for children.
Tracy shares her home with her partner Ken in Uxbridge, Ontario Canada. |
